The best part of the summers of my childhood were the annual
visits to Grandma Toler's house. We had no relatives near where
we lived, so summers were the time we saw our relatives and many
were in the Stephenville, Texas area. Unfortunately, I never got
to meet my Grandpa as he had passed away before I was born. I
loved being the one to sleep in Grandma's bed with her. It was
piled high with feather mattresses and so comfortable. The only
bad part was "the outhouse". :o)

It was a time to play with my cousins and visit my Uncle Marvin
and his family who lived right next door to Grandma. There
would be relatives in and out the whole time we were there.

My grandparents, Sylvester Franklin and Frances Burt Toler.

My Grandfather was a milkman, believed to be in South Texas at one point in time.
As you can see, he worked for Simmons Brothers Dairy. I've tried to find
information on this dairy but have been unable to find one that was based
in Texas at one time. In later life, he was a farmer.

Eating watermelon from Uncle Marvin's fields was a must do
on vacations to Grandma's. He had the best and sweetest
watermelons I ever ate. This was a summer photo I'm sure,
but the date on it was October 1959.
